Will I always be on a catheter with advanced prostate cancer?

Blocked urine. On catheter. Will it be forever like this? PSA 630 bone metastasis.

  1. Hi gummybear. Likely, no, but this depends on what treatment you've had to date. Perhaps you could explain where you are at with treatment. Rod, Prostatecancer.net Moderator

    1. Hi gummybear. As Rod said, it absolutely depends on the treatment your doctors have you on in determining how long the catheter is necessary. I did find this page from UCLA Health which goes into great detail on all things related to urinary catheterization: https://www.uclahealth.org/urology/prostate-cancer/catheter-care-faqs#HowLongWillIHaveAUrinaryCatheter. If you don't mind my asking, what treatment are you on to try to bring the PSA down? Know that we have men here with metastatic cancer and this community is here for you.
