Active surveillance or removal?
Being diagnosed with prostate cancer recently, my Gleason score of 6, a prostate double in size, slow urine flow, getting up at night, occasional pain in the perineal area sometime after sex and sometimes just sitting. What direction should I consider, additional testing, active surveillance or removal?
Ideally, you would like to gather as much information as possible before making a decision. Some of the things to consider include age, life expectancy, Gleason Score, PSA, results of various scans (bone, CT, MRI, etc.), prostate size, general health, and above all, your personal preference. You should always seek a second opinion and be aware of the many options, along with the risks and potential side-effects of each treatment.
Take it out now I was on active surveillance ,I had 2 small cancer spots hence active surveillance,my dr told me I wouldn’t have to worry about it for 10 years,that was 3/2018,I went to Cleveland clinic for a second opinion, a Dr from Cleveland clinic told me in his opinion I wouldn’t have to worry about it for the rest of my life I was 64 ,I’m 67 it activated sometime between December and June was when I had my PSA that was up to a 10 from a 5.9 in June now I have bone cancer that metastasized to my bones it’s in two of my ribs my sternum and my scapula I went from not have nothing to worry about it to know I’m fighting for my life if I would’ve known three years ago that it would’ve went to my bones it was never told me that that could happen I would’ve told the doctor to take it out then it’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off I don’t know why they didn’t opt to do it then I was younger I’m in good shape now I was in good shape then I’m totally disgusted with this doctors diagnosis

I’m on hormonal therapy I start radiation next week now I have blood clot in my lung
We appreciate you sharing, Digger. Is the blood clot associated with your prostate cancer at all? Or will it affect the radiation therapy? -Samuel, Team Member
Don’t know where it came from I got mapped out for my radiation on Wednesday and the radiation doctor said the blood clot wasn’t a problem I think it’s gone already I could feel a difference in one day of being on the Eliquist I start on my next drug which is Arbitron on Monday and also prednisone
