Focal Therapy

I'd like to raise the issue of some hospitals (in the UK) not making men aware that Focal Therapy, such as HIFU or cryotherapy, can be relevant for some presentations of PCa. And it does't have to be private. After diagnosis, I came across Focal Therapy by my own online research. I have been successfully treated with cryotherapy after referral to a London Hospital - and with the superb help of the small charity Prost8. However, Focal Therapy was not only never mentioned by the urology/oncology experts at my local hospital but some of them was openly hostile to it.

  1. ...were openly hostile...

    1. Have spoken with a few Doc's here on other treatment options and so far most still rely on surgery or radiation along with hormone therapy. Not sure if they are reluctant to change or just believe there is not enough evidence to make a move to a new treatment platform

      1. There is good (published) evidence but the problem is lack of knowledge that a referral within the NHS is possible to a hospital that has the knowhow and equipment to perform the procedure

        1. I had to insist on a referral from Medway Maritime to Imperial College NHS Trust
