Radiation Therapy

My husband is 70 years old and has been diagnosed with localized prostate cancer. He choose to have hormone therapy and radiation instead of a prostatectomy. The first two weeks of radiation he was holding his own with no major complaints or side effects. He is now going into week three and is feeling awful, especially nausea and horrific stomach upset. He feels weak and can hardly hold food down. Has anyone had similar side effects with radiation and if so, how did you handle it? Does this last for the remainder of the treatments? He has 19/28 to go and I feel so bad for him. If you have any suggestions or given suggestions by your cancer team to help with the side effects, please share. Thank you!

  3. I had the same difficulty. Eased after radiation was complete but took months before completely "normal" again. I think a low dose short term prednisone can really help after completion to relieve gastro problems but I am not dr

    1. Thanks DaveB...
He is feeling better just really tired. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I am encouraging him by telling him he is on day 14/28 treatments so he is half way to the end of treatment...yeah!
