recent Oncologist visit

Recently I had an appointment with my Oncologist, he told me my PSA was 0 which with that news I was overjoyed. I haven't had a Lupron injection since October 2021 and I've been off Zytiga since March 2022. However he was surprised that I haven't made any improvement in my ability to walk properly and still suffering from extreme fatigue. He increased my Prednisone from 5mg to 10mg daily telling me this should help with my recovery. I read a article about suffering from extreme fatigue was a condition with a 3 word term that The first word started with the letter A. I wish I had written the term down but I didn't. Does anyone know what I'm referring to? If so please let me know so I can ask my Oncologist on my next visit about this. My next Oncologist visit is in November. Also any information about individual recovery experiences from Lupron and Zytiga treatment would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Tom

  1. Hi Tom (). Could what you are referring to involve arginine? This article looks at cancer related fatigue in prostate cancer, including how inflammatory cytokines related to fatigue can be increased due to radiation treatment (note: inflammatory cytokines in autoimmune conditions also are linked to fatigue): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6511691/. The article discusses treatments to increase the arginine which could help restore the immune system. I don't know if this is the "A" you are referring to, but this article offers plenty of good information on prostate cancer treatment related fatigue. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

    1. I don't know what the "a" term is, but big congratulations on a 0 psa reading. Sometimes special to celebrate.

      1. Might your three word term refer to “Androgen Deprivation Therapy” aka ADT ? Not sure, check with your Dr

        1. Thank You everyone for the information regarding fatigue from Lupron and Zytiga. Since I posted this inquiry my Oncologist has referred me to Pallative Care to try some sort of exercise program. I'll keep everyone posted on how this works out.
