: Chemo is scary - I hope this info helps some ... In addition to Prostate Cancer, I developed non-Hodgkins lymphoma that required 6 months of chemo. The loss of taste was a real shock, and the best advice I got was from a night nurse in the cancer ward who said in time, I would find a few things that would offer some sense of taste. The key, she said, was to eat what appeals to you to keep your calories up and to consume many small amounts throughout the day vs 3 squares.
For me, anything with tomato sauce, spices, and (chocolate n moderation) worked. The other thing I learned the hard way ( after a 4 day stay in the hospital for dehydration ) was the need to consume more fluids. To keep my body hydrated ( I am 6 foot 170 lbs), I apparently required 70 - 80 ounces of H2O daily. We are all different, and the key, I believe, is to do what feels right for you. Thanks to advances in chemotherapy, I did not experience an upset stomach - again, that was my experience. Today, I am in remission for the NHL but continue along the prostate cancer journey. Hang in there. Dennis (ProstateCancer.net TEAM)
