T3b: Cancer spread to seminal vesicles

I've dealt with PC 24 years. This is the 3rd time. I'm 73, trying to decide to take hormone treatment or watch and see.

  1. Hi . Has anyone mentioned the PSMA PET scan to you? It is the gold standard in locating recurrent prostate cancer and there is now a targeted radioligand therapy that can be used in conjunction with it. This article goes into further detail: https://prostatecancer.net/treatment/psma-targeted-pet-imaging. Your doctor should be able to provide guidance on whether this or something else would be applicable to your case. Have you been on hormone treatment for any of your other bouts with PCa and if so how did you tolerate it? Wishing you the best. Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

    1. Hi, That is what I had and it spotted the cancer. I had an older type scan 3 months before and it did no spot it.
      Thanks for the reply.

  2. Jack

While I can’t tell you what to do, if you decide on hormone therapy do your research. I did radiation and a year of hormone therapy and the side effects were numerous and life altering. I had a lot of side effects they never even seen before like became allergic to Advil. Hot flashes were impossible, sleep 20 minutes at a time.
It was a rough year. Talk with you doctor regarding the side effects.

Whatever direction you go I wish you luck.

    1. Thank you for the information. I had hormone blockers with radiation years ago for localized PC. I just don’t know if it is worth it since it’s terminal. The most it can do is slow it down.
