Biochemical recurrence

Prostatectomy for treatment

Had rad prostatectomy in 2004, had biochemical recurrence in 2017 that was overlooked by my doctors until 2021 at which time I was diagnosed with advanced metastatic prostate cancer with a systemic spread in the bones and lymphatic system.

Hormone therapy

On hormone therapy now. Time for treatment in a week. Then I'm down for 10 days to two weeks. If I'm not having a hot flash I'm usually freezing! Doctors are not educated in looking at a psa for post operative as being different than a man with a prostate. So they fail to diagnose a recurrence. Don't let your doctor tell you your numbers are good! Demand to know what the number is. A psa postoperative of 0.02 is a biochemical recurrence of the cancer.
