Boring PSA's are a good thing
A little over 4 1/2 years ago I had my prostate removed via RALP. I didn't keep a log of the number of times I was checked for PSA levels with the Uro/Surgeon, but it was plenty and all of them were "virtually undetectable".
Boring PSA results are good
A couple of years ago I also started getting my PSA checked with the VA and my new GP. Their readings were the same - although their testing equipment may have been different. Yesterday at my scheduled revisit with my Uro I told him that I wouldn't be coming back as I was getting my PSA checked elsewhere. He tried to discourage me advising that GPs really don't watch PSA levels all that well and recommended against it. While GPs may not be that conversant in PSA levels I am (thanks to this site and others) and will return should I met PSA ever rise to a level equating to .2 and even then would probably wait a while longer given my age.
