Burning sensation please go away

It will be 2 years in December since I had radiation for prostate cancer. Shortly after the radiation, I started getting a burning sensation whenever I urinate.

I still have the burning after many meetings with my urologist, his PA, and numerous meds.
I’m at a loss of what to do or where to go next.

I’m good wondering if there are others who have experienced the same and if you were fortunate enough to find a solution.

The urinary burning you are experiencing may be related to having tension in your pelvic floor muscles. It is a common complaint for men who do, and this is often consistent radiation treatment used to treat prostate cancer. A pelvic floor PT would teach you how to open up your pelvic floor muscles. There are nerves that run through this region which supply the testicles, penis and rectum. When the muscles are in spasm, the nerves that run through them send errant signals...for many men, this equals urinary burning or rectal pain with bowel movements. You are not imagining this and I think you would get some relief by finding a pelvic floor physical therapist. I hope this helps.

I just completed radiation and started having that burning and pain. Azo helped me, its an over the counter medication. It was also less pain if I went more frequent even if really did not need to go. Less pressure was less pain.

 AZO did not help.

 I had a similar experience with AZO so know you are not alone. Other than a color change I did not get much relief. Different groups and teams have more success than others. In our group here we have urologists that specialize on a single aspect of urology - such as one does robotic surgery only, another is focus on ED issues etc. When looking for MD's I set up a new patient zoom call and try to find out the focus (expertise) of the individuals on the team vs finding the one who does it all. I also had a procedure after radiation. I had a stricture of my urethra which they think is causing the burning. They inserted a balloon Cather to try and expand the urethra. So far nothing has worked. I plan to reach out to a new group in Boston for a second opinion. I’m north of Boston now. Very frustrating to say the least.

 Hope you had some luck - today trying to get into an MD office is just nuts getting appointments. My wife has a pain related medical issue and even with an MD referral she can not be seen until January 2022 for the test. My daughter in VA facing similar issues just trying to get and told there are months long waits. Fingers crossed for that appointment 🤞
