My Journey: Metastatic Prostate Cancer
I'm 56 with a PSA of 68, Gleason 4+3=7. Last year, my PSA was 1.1. So it was a shock when it jumped that high in a year. Biopsy confirmed prostate cancer, and after a bone scan, MRI, and bone biopsy, it had metastasized to my lower spine.
Treatment and side effects
On June 1st, I started radiation and lupron. I'm happy to say today is my last radiation treatment, 39/39.
I'm still wrapping my head around long-term lupron treatment. Exercise has helped with tiredness. It's been painful to have sex, so I have avoided it for the time being. I worry about how this will change in the long term, as this may be my new normal (still in denial).
Ongoing journey
My story changed this year and will continue to change as I learn to deal with having stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer.
