Recurrences abound

Initial treatment for prostate cancer

I had 45 external radiation sessions. After a couple years my PSA went up and I went to quarterly hormone injections. After a couple sessions, my insurance decided not to pay for that medication. I had an orchiectomy. After a bit, the PSA went up again.

Treating recurrence

My urologist said my adrenal gland puts out some testosterone, which prostate cancer loves, so she gave me some meds that shut down my adrenal gland. After a bit more the PSA started going up again. Nubeqa just came out (2019), so I got that. It's been working fine. I am very fortunate.
