The Link Between African-American Men & Prostate Cancer

One risk factor associated with prostate cancer is race and ethnicity. Compared to other racial and ethnic groups, African-American men are reported to have the highest incidence rates of prostate cancer. They are 1.6 times more likely than white men and 2.6 times more likely than Asian men to develop prostate cancer during their lives. Unfortunately, African-American men are also more than twice as likely than white men and five times more likely than Asian American men to die from prostate cancer.
