   <p>Dennis, thanks for that very thoughtful video. Interestingly, this last week I chose to accompany a friend on a one week cruise to Alaska and I knew it would be my last major adventure before starting my hormone therapy. I chose to book an inside cabin where I could escape in the evenings to read and to prepare for the coming changes that will certainly occur with treatment. It turned out to offer exactly what you describe. In the evenings after viewing the beautiful mountains and glaciers I retreated to a small, yet comfortable, dark room with a couple of books that I have wanted to dive into. I can&#39;t tell you how much it allowed me to prepare for the transition and allowed my attitude and gratitude to take control of my mood.<br/><br/><br/>I know we can&#39;t all head off to Alaska when we need respite; but it was that dark, small space away from all outside stimulus that was the very best part for me. That was my &quot;poustinia&quot; and I couldn&#39;t recommend more highly that you search for yours.</p>

   <p>Hi <inline-mention username="Dennis Golden" user-id="3259730"/>. I do like this idea of poustinia. In a sense I started doing this when I was very young and became a distance runner (in the 5th grade). I started the running in school, but then carried it over to a daily thing on my own because I liked the quiet, the escape, the chance to be alone with thoughts. I do think that if a person begins this with purpose they may need to be in the right frame of mind and ready for it. I can imagine that some people, maybe when first diagnosed with something like PCa could get alone with their thoughts and go to the darker places thinking about cancer and treatment can take a person. I suspect a person really needs to want to find that place of calm and perspective. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)</p>
