Advanced Prostate Cancer

This is my post.

Anyone else out there that has advanced Prostate Cancer and given 6 - 12 months without treatment?

I'm currently on ADT and also going through Chemo at the moment.

Looking at Radiation treatment as well.

  1. So they are saying 6-12 months if you get no treatment at all, but that you are getting treatment?

What doctors are attending you and where are they?

What are your stats? PSA etc

    1. how can I get the length back when I pull on it it seems to pull back hardly any erection at all.

    2. My penis has also shrunk and my testicles are 1/4 of the size they once were. No serial desire, was told if/when did have sex organism would be a dry one. No seamen ejaculated. But this does make sense, I have no testosterone in my body. This is something most people don't discuss.

  2. I have a returning prostate cancer (3rd time) now caught very early thanks to a new scanning protocol - PMSA PET . An MD at one center just offer me Lupron to slow it down. Somehow his suggestion did not feel right so I checked into another cancer center and was offered a different and more aggressive treatment plan that has the potential to kill off the cancer. I figure it is worth the shot. Will let you all know how this evolves .

My advice to patients is ....you must advocate for yourself ask questions. Do not be concerned or hold back when it comes to changing docs or treatment centers. My original Gleason was a 9 about10 years ago at no time did my pre op PSA get to a 2.8. My current PSA is 0.48 ...Dennis(ProstateCancer.net TEAM)

    1. Thanks for the reply. My current PSA is around 0.50.

Just finished session 5 of 6 chemo.

It's hard to be positive when the specialists only tell you just to enjoy what time you have left.

Two years is all they give me as a positive

      1. My suggestion to my support group guys is ...Look on the bottom of your foot to see if there is an expiration date ... IFi you don't see one live life fully every day. MD's have no idea how long any of us will live and are only offering up thoughts - I personally know guys who were told they had a year and 10 years later they are still up and going.

    2. My care team gave me 5 years, maybe more. When diagnosed it was stage 4 with metastasis in lower back, pelvic bone and neck. Radiation and oral chemo with Lupron has gotten it to remission for now ( also had cement placed in back and pelvis). So after three years from diagnosis I feel great but still battle all the typical side effects. I’m in a life phase of how long will this euphoria last? When will the cancer return????? Doubt this helped you but it felt good to write. My oncology radiologist dismissed me as did my palliative care doc because I am doing so well. There is hope!! Stay strong!

      1. thanks for chiming in here. I am so glad to hear you feel great. Anxiety plays such a big role in this, thank you for being honest and sharing. Jill, prostatecancer.net team

      2. Thanks for sharing your story . Also, want to let you know that you are not alone here in being diagnosed with stage 4 and doing well. We have a few patient leaders with similar cases, such as diagnosed stage 4 in 2017. Tony ran 5000m every day in 2022 to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer. You can find his bio and a link to his articles here: https://prostatecancer.net/author/tonyc. Wishing you continued success. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)
