Advanced Prostate Cancer

I had increasing left Thoracic back pain in
October 2024. Aleve was not relieving the
pain, and then my legs were getting numb,
and wobbly. Sunday PM 10/20/24 I could
not move my feet, and went 911 to the ER
at Abington Hospital. My PSA was 2635, and MRI showed severe compression of the
Thoracic spine. I had emergency T-4-T-6
spinal Decompression surgery at 4:30AM
10/21/24. Tissue biopsy positive for
Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Just completed 6 weeks of home IV antibiotics
for spinal wound infection on 7/24/25.
On Orgovyx 120mg po daily. Did not tolerate
Erleada due to pruritic rash, and horrible mood swings. I am slowly improving with leg numbness, and weakness my main
complaint at present. Will see Urology on
8/4/25 for follow up.

  1. Hi Brian (). You have certainly been dealing with a lot and that is quite a way to get a diagnosis. I just want to note that we have a number of men here who have been stage 4 for quite a while. For example, here is the bio page for Tony, with a link to all his articles: https://prostatecancer.net/community-advocates/tony-collier. Wishing you the best with your upcoming appointment and please feel to keep us posted on how you doing and to ask questions. Richard (Team Member)

    1. Brian -Wow. That is rough. I have a few questions if you are willing to share.

      1) How old are you?
      2) Were you monitoring PSA prior to the inadvertent discovery of prostate cancer?
      3) Did your primary care physician ever do a DRE (digital rectal exam)?
      4) I see ADT treatment but was there any radiation treatment?
      5) What did the PSMA pet scan show as I assume you had one of those?
      6) Can you describe what the intended treatment will be beyond just taking Orgovyx?
      7) How did your urologist appointment go?

      1. Sorry I took so long to reply. I am 68yo, and my case is complicated. I did not

        1. have a DRE. I felt good until October 2024. I started getting mid back pain then
numbness, weakness in my legs. On Sunday 10/20/24 symptoms were severe,
and could not feel my feet. Went 911 to
Abington Hospital ER. My PSA was 2635,
and severe spinal cord compression on MRI. Had emergency T-4-T-6 Decompression Surgery at 4:30AM.
Was paralyzed from belly button to my feet post-op. Was in Abington 1 month
then Rehab 2 more months. I had 10
          Palliative Radiation treatments to T-5
vertabrae while at Abington due to
Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Slowly improving with PT. My PMSA scan was
not bad. Left Prostate gland mass, and
several lymph nodes all shrinking. I am
on Orgovyx 120mg po daily, and saw
Urology 8/7/25. PSA down to 1.7, and
Testosterone less than 3. Urology added
Nubeqa 300mg 2 po BID. Tolerating both
meds well. I was on Erleada 230 mg po
daily before Nubeqa, but had to stop it
due to severe pruritic rash, and horrible
mood swings. I think plan right now is
the 2 ADT medications as I am responding to treatment. Slowly improving with minimal back pain.
          Biggest problem now is weakness,
numbness, fatigue in both legs in
          hamstring, buttock area. Also had
          Foley catheter since 10/20/24, but
          Urologist did Cystoscopy/TURP on
6/8/25, and able to urinate now without
catheter. Urologist told me I am NOT
candidate for surgery or further radiation
treatment. I hope this info is of help to
you, and please contact me if you need
          anymore info.
          Best regards,
          Brian Keeley
