Amended Diagnosis

Hello everyone,

I am 53 years old and was just recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. I was reviewing my results from my biopsy, and I noticed that the pathologist had amended his report more than two days after he had initially signed it. He changed one of my Gleason scores from a 6 to a 7 (my only 7 in my final diagnosis), due to a typographical error. How does that happen? Should I get another pathologist to review the slides from my biopsy? Thank you for your time here.

  1. Hi . It is understandable that a change in your report would be disconcerting. I saw your exchange with in a different thread where we had earlier discussed your case. It is good that you were able to get a PET scan scheduled and confirm that the doctor believes he can spare the nerves. The PET should help confirm your course of action. Also, has any mentioned Kegal exercises to you? The can help with both urinary continence and erectile function after surgery. This article from our contributor Erin, who is a pelvic floor therapist, did this interview, with more information: https://prostatecancer.net/video/kegel-research. In addition, this article discusses when to do the exercises, including potentially pre-surgery: https://prostatecancer.net/living/start-kegels. Hope this information is helpful and please feel free to keep us posted on how things are proceeding. Best, Richard (Team Member)
