Prostate cancer diagnosis

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a biopsy when my PSA got to 10. I had previously done MRIs of the prostate four years in a row but they all came back low probability for cancer. Biopsy is the gold standard. I have since had surgery and I am two months post op and doing well. I am coping with the side effects that come with surgery but thankful I am cancer free.

  1. Hi I am so glad to hear that the biopsy caught it and you are doing so well post-op. I am sure the side effects can be difficult but it is amazing news that you are cancer free. Thanks for sharing with us. Jill (Team Member)

Congrats on treatments. I had PSA at 6 two years ago and biopsy confirmed cancer December 2023, staged at 2T, genetic testing low risk. Been on active surveillance, but PSA up to 11 in 2 years. What type of surgery, was it robotic guided by AI or imaging alone, and what specific side effects, and what post surgery treatment if any?

      1. I had the robotic assisted prostatectomy. Spent the night in the hospital and went home the next day with a Foley catheter. Three days later I had the foley discontinued. Side effects are incontinence and impotence. Now, depending on how much nerves were spared will affect your symptoms. I am doing pelvic floor exercises which basically are Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor. These symptoms get better with time. There are some postoperative
Medications and therapy geared to get you back on the game. I have hope! After my diagnosis I was put on Casodex to contain the cancer before my prostate was taken out. After the surgery, my pathology report was negative for any spread! My most recent PSA was <0.010
