Cyberknife

Can anyone who has had cyberknife tell me if its good or bad

  1. I did not do cyberknife but did undergo 40 treatments of focused external beam radiation plus Lupron. Personally I did not have any significant issues with the treatment. What I can tell you is how any one of us reacts to any treatment is patient dependent. While i did very well others had a different experience with a similar treatment. Best advice i can offer until someone who has undergone Cyberknife can respond is - do your research and stay confident with your decision. I really believe a positive attitude helps - I have beaten and aggressive prostate cancer 2 times and more recently stage 2 non-hodgkins Lymphoma. None of this is fun but you do get through it 😀 Dennis(prostate cancer.net TEAM)

    1. Hi . My father-in-law had a combination of cyberknife and traditional external beam radiation. It has been two years and he is doing quite well. I can tell you that each case is different and that the suitability of cyberknife can depend on multiple factors including the Gleason score and advancement of the cancer. In his case he was a Gleason 8 and there was concern about potential spread, so they used the traditional radiation to increase the margins, as cyberknife is extremely precise and they actually wanted a larger area of radiation (note: he was treated at NYU by a cyberknife specialist who may have done more treatments with it than any doctor in the country). It is important to ask your doctor how the treatment would specifically fit your case. Wishing you the best and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing.
