EXTERNAL RADIATION TREATMENT

Hi, I'm 75yrs old and I've being living with prostrate cancer for the past
8yrs, choosing active surveillance after receiving a low gleason score.
When my PSA rose from 19 to 26 my urologist order a MRI which showed a lesion on prostrate. I was put on hormone therapy, which I will be on for 2yrs, and my PSA dropped to 1.0. I've had 3 radiation
treatments so far but I'm stressed over bowel movements since I'm
suffer from constipation and you have to have a bowel movement
before treatment. The doctor recommends glycerine depository but
they don't work for me. I've being taking extra strength ex lax and it
has been working great except for small stomach cramps the first day but it works for 2 days! Should I continue this for the six weeks or does someone have a better suggestion. thankyou

  1. I used to use prune juice but for some reason it stopped working for me. Exlax did nothing. I tried Metamucil and I couldn't believe how well it worked, cleared up the constipation and made stools soft. I took 2 packages of the cookies after dinner and it worked by the next morning. I only take it when it's needed. I also got the capsules but remember to drink alot of water with Metamucil. I got calf cramps the first time I used the capsules and I think they caused dehydration. I'm not easily impressed but Metamucil made me a believer.
