What do you wish others would NOT say about prostate cancer?

Not all advice about prostate cancer is helpful. Has anyone given you unwanted advice or said something unhelpful? Tell us about it in the comments below.

  1. Oh that’s not a bad one to have!

    1. Oh prostate cancer is nothing you will be alright.

      1. “Oh, that’s the ‘good’ cancer to have, you’re lucky”

        1. Hi , , and . This is the big one - variations on the "it's the good cancer, nothing to worry about" statement. The reality is that the current estimates are that over 35,000 men in the U.S. will die from PCa in 2025 (see: https://seer.cancer.gov/statfacts/html/prost.html). Another stat that took me by surprise is that roughly 1 in 44 men will die from prostate cancer (see: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/types/prostate-cancer/about/key-statistics.html). None of this even touches on the side effects from even successful treatment. Nothing lucky to see there. Best, Richard (Team Member)
