Hi . First, I want to note that each person needs to weigh the options, potential side effects, and their personal situation to figure out what is best for them. That said, it certainly makes sense to try get some feedback from those who have been there. I can tell you that my father-in-law had a combination of Cyberknife and traditional radiation, with hormone therapy a few years ago. They did the combination of radiation therapies because he had a Gleason 8 with a pretty high risk of the cancer escaping the prostate, so there was a concern that the Cyberknife was actually too precise. His treatment went very well and there has been no evidence of spread or recurrence. In addition, there are studies that find stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) (which Cyberknife is a form of) to be effective for intermediate and high risk prostate cancer. For example: this study concludes that favorable overall survival (OS) and biochemical freedom from recurrence (BFFR) "can be expected after SBRT for intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer with non-significant differences seen for BFFR between favorable intermediate, unfavorable intermediate, and high-risk groups." Hope this helps and that others chime in with their experiences, including for the surgery. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)
