How long have you been experiencing the side effects of treatment?

Each person's experience with prostate cancer is different. Especially with the severity and experience of treatment side effects.

What side effects have you experienced?

Have the side effects of treatment lasted longer than you thought they would?

  1. Initially my side effects from surgery were not significant. I was able to maintain erections and had excellent bladder control. Follow up treatment with radiation and lupron 5 years later basically killed off erections - urine control however is still good . And now considering an implant at some point. My 6 month Lupron shot effects lasted 14 months .... Dennis(ProstateCancer.net TEAM)

    1. Hello Dennis
I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer September 2022.
Had a MRI, Biopsy, PET scan all done.
PET scan showed bone cancer in spine T-1 (neck) location.
I have a Oncologist at Dana Farber in Foxboro who has me on a hormonal treatment. Getting the Lupron shot, and taking 1 prednisone pill in am 5mg.
At night taking 4 Abiraterone 2 hours after eating anything.
      This started February 2023.
Also met with Radiologist in Weymouth. Had 3 gold rods implanted in the prostrate for radiation treatment that is to begin April 2023 for 9 weeks 5 days a,week.
After that treatment is complete then I meet with a different Radiologist to discuss treatment for the bone cancer in the neck.
It has be 1 heck of a ride!
Side effects have been nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, mood swings, hot flashes.
Wondering what is to come with radiation.

      1. I had my prostate removed via DaVinci. No erections and have to wear a pad for urine. Post op tests revealed PSA of 2.1. Per scan shows Mets to some bones. Referred to oncologist in Seneca, SC. Started hormone therapy in November 2022, and chemo in December 2022. No cure for prostate cancer but hopefully it will be removed from my bones. My last chemo is on Monday 3/27/23. Chemo effects have be loss of taste, neuropathy in fingers, toes and legs, feeling tired and weak, hot flashes from the hormone treatment, nose bleeds, nausea and mainly just feeling like crap. I will survive this. Hormone treatment lasts forever. Last PSA was 0.022

        1. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer in 2018, recevied Lupron injectiona and took Zytiga pills for over 2 years. I have slowly lost my ability to walk as well as my motor skills have been compromised. I went to ny Oncologist this past week and explained to him what was happening and he told me that he had never seen anything like this and there is nothing nedical that will help me,
