Biopsy 3/24. Got the news on 3/31. To the extent it's 'good' news, I suppose it is: Gleason 6, 3 + 3. Still trying to understand what that means. My wife is trying to be supportive, telling me that this is basically nothing to worry about.

Perhaps. I'm meeting with the doc this coming Wednesday for more info and options.

A little disoriented right now. But I guess I feel lucky.

  1. Hi . Your concerns and disorientation are certainly understandable - its never easy to hear you have cancer. Know that guys here understand. It sounds like you cancer was caught earlier and is slow growing, which is good news. This article from our editorial team gives an overview of the Gleason Score: https://prostatecancer.net/diagnosis/gleason-score.

The Gleason score of 6 provides a lot of options for treatment or even active surveillance depending on the particulars of your case. How did your appointment with your doctor go and did you learn more about your case and the options? This community is here for you, so please feel free to update us or ask additional questions. 1. look up Dr. Grimm. He spent years compiling data on all major PCa treatments and their curative value. Go to the website. There are three charts, one each for low risk, intermediate risk, and high risk (risk of PCa recurrence). Study them, learn them by heart.
On the charts it sounds like you maybe are low or intermediate. You can look up on internet to help figure out your category
