Looking for new job with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer

Hi,
I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer at the end of 2017. I had prostatectomy, radiation, lupron, and xtandi but it has advanced to stage 4 . It has metastasized to my bones. occipital condyle, mandibular condyle, spine, rib. It doesn't hurt yet and Xtandi is hold it at bay for now. I have teenagers and I still need to work. Should I disclose my diagnosis to a potential employer? I do get tired and have had trouble staying on task and got fired from my last contract but I'm working to overcome the side effects and I think I can do it with a lot of effort.

  1. Thanks a tough question. My past work life was human resources and operations director. You should not be asked about your health unless its a bonfide job related condition. When I was first diagnosed with PC as a director of operations got immediately slide over to soft staff position (no pun intended) and no loss of pay-but end of career climb there. Think I would avoid being open until hired and through intital hire phase. Did recover career with another company and better position-but did not volunteer my condition. Just my thoughts. 1. Thanks. I got modafinil to help with the sleepiness. It works pretty well. Using lots of lists to stay on point. I think I’m doing ok in my new role at Moderna. I tried to drink a couple beers last night and I felt like I was walking thru jello. Between the lupron and the xtandi my numbers are back down do I got that going for me. Thx for your reply.

      1. Oh, good pun btw.
