Prostate Biopsy

I had a fusion biopsy done 4 days ago and was wondering if what I'm experiencing is normal. I was sent home without any discharge instructions. My urologist that performed the biopsy just said to not lift anything heavy for a couple of days. I have been going on walks and felt fine, but this morning I felt sore and passed a small blood clot and had some pinkish urine. It's cleared up since. I feel tired and clearly not up to going on walks just yet. I was told I will get my results this week. I'll ask my doctor about this. In the meantime I was wondering how long after a biopsy did you resume normal activities and should I be concerned about bleeding, fatigue and dull pain 4 days after biopsy?

  1. I just had one a week ago .still a little sore .the bleeding in urine stopped two days ago not that it was bad just sometimes would start out pink

    1. Had one 10 days ago and have had off and on blood in my urine. Not constant and not real red, more pinkish. I emailed my doctor and the reply was it normal for up to 6 weeks as long as there was no fever and the blood wasn't constant. They did tell me NO NSAID's or aspirin until after the bleeding stops.

      1. Hi . Just to follow up, this article from the Mayo clinic confirms what others here have written concerning recovery from the biopsy: https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/prostate-biopsy/about/pac-20384734#:~:text=about%2020%20minutes.-,After%20the%20procedure,light%20bleeding%20from%20your%20rectum. I also notes symptoms that should spur one to contact the doctor, such as fever, difficulty urinating, or heavy bleeding. It sounds like at this point your symptoms are normal, but, as you noted, you should mention them to your doctor at follow-up. Wishing you the best with the results and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing. Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

        1. Thanks. No blood today, but only one walk with my dog instead of my normal 2. I feel sore at times and tired. I think time will be my friend. Waiting for the phone call for the results and trying not to worry too much.

      2. Thanks for the info. I did have to visit my primary care doctor as my urologist is 3 hours away. I was experiencing what I thought was a UTI. Doctor said no UTI, but put me on an antibiotic to be safe. He said it's likely inflamed and possibly prostatitis symptoms. I'm having difficulty emptying my bladder. He did an ultrasound and notice this shortly after peeing. He mentioned the possibility of Flomax down the road. My prostate is normal size so I'm not sure what's going on. I have a consultation with urologist this week to go over the results of my biopsy and treatment options as I was told it is cancer☹️ I will bring all of this up and hopefully get some answers so I can enjoy the rest of my summer and plan my treatment strategy.
