Hi . Prostate Cancer can kill the host/patient in a number of ways. It can spread to throughout the body to various organs and the bones. "Metastasis to the bone can cause too much bone calcium to be released into the blood. The condition is known as hypercalcemia. Hypercalcemia can disrupt the functioning of organs, such as the kidney and heart. In severe cases, high calcium levels can lead to death:" https://www.medicinenet.com/how_does_prostate_cancer_kill_you_in_the_end/article.htm. There can also be failure of various organs depending on the level of spread to them.. The good news is that treatments have come a long way and in many cases, even stage 4 prostate cancer can be manageable. We have several patient leaders here who have been stage 4 for a number of years and are still going strong. I want to share with you the bio for our contributor Tony who was diagnosed in 2017: https://prostatecancer.net/community-advocates/tony-collier. I also encourage you to read some his articles to see some of the amazing things he still does with stage 4 PCa. Wishing you the best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)
