PSA Update

today, i got my most recent PSA. my new PSA is 0.72. on jan 9th and 23rd, 2020, i had HDR +six months of 50mg bicalutamide. here is a list of my PSA since treatment. please tell me your thoughts.

  1. Hi . I can't speak to your specific case, but I do know that there is often what is known as a PSA bounce (about 1/3 of cases) following brachytherapy. I've seen that the bounces can occur over the first two years from the start of treatment, with the time to the bounce seeming to be shorter for the HDR (see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5881590/) The percentages of the bounces can depend on a number of factors from age to pre-treatment PSA to Gleason score to other factors (see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5075994/#:~:text=The%20time%20from%20completion%20radiation,patients%20from%20121%20(15.7%25). You would need to consult your doctor to discuss if this could be a factor in what you are seeing with your PSA and if there are other tests or monitoring they might want to pursue.
