Rising PSA a concern

Hello everyone,
My dad performed prostatectomy on July. 20, 2021. Before surgery his PSA was 5.23. After surgery the biopsy showed Gleason score 4+3 with some 5. Cancer cell was 5% , and was confined to the prostate no spread to surrounding lymph nodes or any other places. The tissue is negative margin.

Before the surgery the bone scan showed negative.

After the surgery my dad didn’t take any medication or injection but his PSA has been slowly increasing. Here are his PSA after the surgery:
9/2/2021: 0.006
10/22/2021:0.022
11/25/2021: 0.029
01/22/2022:0.036
02/22//2022: 0.036
05/09/2022:0.042
07/19/2022: 0.05
12/05/2022: 0.066

Testosterone:
9/2/2021 3.41 ng/ml
7/19/2022 5.74 ng/ml
12/05/2022 4.23

The doctor said it is an early staged prostate cancer should be cured after the surgery. But given the rising PSA, I am concerned it's coming back. But the doctor said I should keep active surveillance until it hits 0.1. Will PSA stop at a point? I am very concerned about my dad's current situation. Any suggests would be appreciated.

  1. Hi Izzy. Try not to stress too much about PSA. The numbers are still very low, virtually undetectable. My PSA on diagnosis was 259 and fell to 0.8 after chemo and HT, but began to rise slowly and when it reached 3.2 I rang the nurses at PC UK, who told me that because the body isn't producing any testosterone the cancer will seek to find other sources and the liver and kidneys produce small amounts which is what the cancer will find.
So I was reassured. My PSA now is 6.8 and has been steady at that for months which my oncologist is happy with. Best wishes. Robert.
