Side Effects of Lupron and Spacer

I'm 65 and recently diagnosed. I had the fiducials and spacer implant completed about two weeks ago. Had my first injection of Lupron about 10 days ago. I feel HORRID! My bones and joints ache, I have a terrible time urinating or having a bowel movement. The worst is the fatigue! I am (was) a reasonably active university professor, but now all I want to do is sit on a heating pad. Please...someone tell me that this gets better and not worse.

  1. It should get better as your body adjusts to all the crap it has gone through. At least I kind of improved.

    1. Thank you! I’ll take whatever encouragement I can get.

      1. Hi . Along the lines of what said, I want to share this article which notes that Lupron is fast acting and states "in the first 1 to 2 weeks, the drug may cause a short-term surge in your body’s testosterone or estrogen level. This may cause the condition being treated to get worse before it gets better. Within 2 to 4 weeks of starting treatment, your testosterone or estrogen levels should drop. When this occurs, you may start to feel some improvement in the symptoms of your condition:" https://www.healthline.com/health/drugs/lupron-depot#dosage. (see also: https://www.goodrx.com/lupron/tips-lupron-injection). Hope you are improving soon and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

        1. I feel for you brother. I went through the same thing and worse when I was on luprin. It was a struggle from day one. One thing kinda helped me was exercise. I know it's hard to get up and moving but even a little bit helps. I could only manage going to the mailbox some day's. A little is better than nothing. I really hope you start feeling better soon. Peace out.....johnnyB
