At the time of diagnosis, my urologist indicated that only a pathologist examining surgery samples could verify if cancer had spread or was contained. Questions to ask might include
1) How aggressive is the cancer?
2) Is active surveillance a possibility?
3) What treatment options are available given what is known about my cancer?
4) What are the long and short-term impacts of the various treatments?
5) What will recovery look like should treatment be needed?
6) How many prostate cancer procedures (surgery or radiation etc) have you performed? ( My surgeon had done 2,000 prostate surgeries before mine)
You may want to consider getting a second opinion as well- Hopefully, the above questions will get you off to a good start. Best of luck - and keep us posted. Dennis(ProstateCancer.net TEAM)
