I was in a similar situation. My PSA was on a slow rise and it was suggested I might want to pay a visit to a urologist. The GP did not find any issues with a digital due to the fact that the cancer lump was on the back side of the gland and very easy to miss. The urologist put more pressure on the gland and did feel a lump. Further testing showed some hot spots and I then needed to undergo a 12 core needle biopsy 2 weeks later. I would suggest you ask about the use of numbing agent prior to any biopsy. It turned out I had a Gleason 9 contained prostate cancer (confirmed by an MRI). I underwent surgery in 2013. Today I show no evidence of disease. Do hope that helps. Dennis (ProstateCancer.net TEAM)
