ED Drugs /Pricing

Interesting story. Had the SpaceOAR and markers done this week. Had my initial set up yesterday, CT scan, make sure the markers and spacer is in the correct position, tattoo's marked. I spoke to the Radiation Oncologist and suggested that I take an ED drug (Sildenafil Viagra in particular) before and during the radiation therapy. 50mg daily based on a study he read that suggested that this treatment lessens the incidence of ED after RT quite a bit. I'll try it. He suggested my local COSTCO for the Sildenafil. I figured my local Target/CVS would be OK as I get my other scripts there.

Here is the interesting part. CVS/Target priced it out at $600. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. Not covered by insurance. You got to be kidding me!!!!! I had him call in a script to COSTCO. Ready for this?....

$17. That's their everyday price. 98% less than the big chain store

I can't speak for other stores in other parts of the country but I'm quite happy just saving $583

  1. Hi . Thanks for sharing this information. Wow, really pays (no pun intended) to shop around. I found this study on the prophylactic use of Sildenafil dating all the way back to 2014 and yet you hear almost nothing on this topic or of doctors recommending it. I know there may be reasons for some not use the drug, but certainly seems like it could be an option for many. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

    1. I'm surprised there hasn't been more research
