Gleason 6 treatment

Hi,

I had a biopsy and it came back with Gleason 6 (3+3). The urologist first told me it was extremely important that I have a biopsy done every 12 - 18 months to monitor this. 3 years later with no followups and now he's telling me we will just do MRI's instead (I also have ulcerative colitis so biospsy is extra painful). He also told me my cancer is nothing and don't worry about it. Problem is, he's told me a lot of things and then told me the exact opposite, so I'm not sure if I trust him.

Question for others with Gleason 6 ....... what type of treatment/monitoring are you being treated with?

Thanks
Joe

  1. Hi thanks for reaching out. I hope our community members will respond here with their personal experiences for treatment with Gleason 6. In the meantime, I would definitely suggest you get a second (or more) opinion. I can understand why you would have concerns with the mixed messages from your urologist, you need a more informed, educated response for your health care. I really hope you can get the answers you deserve. Jill, prostatecancer.net team

    1. Thanks Jill. Perhaps you could tell me how to see my own posts? I can't see a link for it, so I searched via keywords I used in the title and I still can't see my posts. Thanks Joe.

      1. click on your user name, it should bring up your profile. Choose view profile and from there, you will see your activity. I only see this post from you, perhaps if you have tried before, it didn't work. Please let us know. Jill, prostatecancer.net team

    2. Hi Jill,

I checked my profile before (after making a post with the title "Dutasteride"😉 and didn't see anything. So, I re-wrote the post and I still don't see it. I did a search for "dutasteride" and still didn't see it. Are you able to see it? Thanks Joe
