I'm Concerned About My PSA

hello, good people. on feb. 28th, 2019, i was diagnosed wit' GS 4+3 = 7 PCa. as a form of treatment, on jan. 9th and 23rd, 2020, i had HDR brachytherapy and finished up six months of 50mg. bicalutamide. my PSA at diagnosis was 11.9. thanks to COVID-19 i had to wait a year before i was able to have my first PSA blood draw. my first PSA in jan. of 2020, was 4.04. six weeks later, it went down to 1.51. then, three months later, it was 1.52. this past september, my most recent PSA was 0.55. on the 25th of this month, i go to have my next PSA.

over the last couple of weeks, i've noticed my urinary streams in the morning are getting a little weak. i haven't had a weak stream since late 2020, when i was still in the healing process. fellas? i'm starting to get concerned about my PSA. back in 2014, i was diagnosed with BPH and asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis. so, i was thinking maybe that could be a cause for the streams being weak at times. either way, i'm concern'd that the weak streams may have a negative impact on my next PSA. what R your thoughts on this matter?

  1. Both prostatitis and BPH can result in a weak stream. For your protection and that of others visiting this site, medical advice is not offered on ProstateCancer.net

You are more apt to find folks offering personal insights or offering links to informative articles. It is always best to check with your MD or preferably with a Urologist as the latter specializes in "below the belt" issues.

Based on personal experience it appears your decreasing PSA ( like mine) is going in the right direction. A large prostate can produce higher PSA readings due to the size of the gland and yes and enlarging prostate can restrict urine flow.

Prostatitis is not always a simple condition and depending on type it can be challenging or easy to treat with antibiotics.
