PSA 0.46 - lots of symptoms

Hello,

Anyone with PSA 0.46 or such low amount (first time) gotten PCA? 32 male, no prior history or anything but started having upper/mid back pain, pins and needles in both legs/arms, cough, weight loss, and general aching in hips, arms and other areas, 1-2 weeks ago.

I have done 2 CTs of the pelvis/abdomen, both said cleared, but i’m not sure how useful that is as i hear CT are not great and PCA can be easily missed.

I am worried about small cell PCA which would not raise PSA, given the quick symptoms and worsening.

Thank you.

  1. Have you looked up nerve pinching in lower back and neck bones? Very common.
I have it. And some of the lower back nerve pain pathways go right by the prostate and down the thigh (at least in my body).
Makes guessing about your PCa more interesting.

    1. Wait, if you are 32 yrs old, maybe not the pinching...
... unless, you do certain sports or activities.
I had double neck fusion at about 40 yrs old due to me skiing

      1. Somehow I get the feeling Dr. Google has been at work here. Searched for back pain and saw it could be a symptom of PCa? Have you had any tests for PCa? Have you seen a urologist? Had a digital exam?

PSA doesn't give you prostate cancer. PSA is an indicator of prostate activity - and sometimes an indicator for prostate cancer. At 0.46 it's and 32 years of age - it's doubtful that prostate cancer is present - nothing about your PSA number indicates that, and most times - it is simply a pinched nerve or disk out of place. I've had back issues for about 45 years - starting right around your age. It was never caused by prostate cancer (although I definitely did have is, it started when I was around 73 years old (now 77..)

That's the problem with Dr. Google - many people look up a symptom and latch onto the worst possible cause of that symptom and become convinced that's the cause of their issue. I'd strongly suggest seeing a real doctor (I assume you must have one since you had CT scans). The symptoms you described could be related to a common cold or Covid infection (which can cause ALL of the symptoms you're describing..)

        1. You are listing a lot of symptoms for PCa to be the culprit. I, too, suggest that lumbar back problems or a virus may be your problem. 0.46 would represent a minimal amount of PCa. I've never heard of a person having symptoms from such a tiny PSA. I'm not an MD, but I've studied it since I was diagnosed 26 years ago. I've learned that there is no such thing as certainty. There is the illusion of certainty, but life is uncertain. If you spend much energy trying to make sure that you don't have PCa, you will not achieve your goal. I suggest listening to your Urologist or Oncologist and doing what he/she says.
