I had the robotic assisted prostate removal back April 28, 2020. Won't go into a lot of details, but a week or so after the surgery I got the call about the pathology report that said I still have some cancer left. I was Gleason 9, Grade 5. They wanted me to wait until the first week in August to check PSA. First score 52, a week later 67, 2 weeks after that, 165. I get a CT and bone scan again and now it had spread to my bones. My scans before the surgery were all clean, so I though having the prostate removed was the right choice.
Next step, Hormone Therapy, Lupron and Apaludimide ( erleada ). It brought my PSA down to .20 in 6 months, but ever since it has been climbing, now up to 6.68.
My options are now wait 6 more months, radiation in the only area I have any pain ( inside left pelvis ), or 6 monthly Radium 223 treatments. The Radium treatments seem more like a last resort to me, so I'm try to see if anyone else has had a similar situation.
Right now I'm leaning towards the radiation. Any thoughts are appreciated.
