Robotic Prostatectomy

I am about to undergo a radical prostatectomy in June (2022). I am comfortable with my decision to opt for surgery v. radiation. I have PSA 10.8 and 4+3 Gleason. I am 74 years old and in fairly good health although I tend to be a couch potato at times. I understand the possible side effects and can only hope to manage my way through incontinence quickly. I am posting this to the group just to share my personal story as I go through the process. Maybe it will be of value to some who follows me in time.

  1. Great idea. Side effects notwithstanding the worst part is the catheter.

    1. I had the same procedure 14 months ago. Start walking asap, even with the annoying but temporary catheter. Try to make sense of how to do kegels (still a challenge for me). Listen to your body but move as frequently as you can.

      1. I had this procedure done on March 8th, 2022, as other said, the worst part was the catheter which I had to have for about a week. Best of luck with everything and prayers to you

        1. for me the cat was a pain to deal with -- but when all was said and done - it came out easily and quickly and I did heal well

      2. My husband had a radical prostatectomy 14 years ago and he's still a survivor. I share that to say that while there will probably be some unpleasant side effects, what follows is healing, regaining your strength and regaining your life,
