What are your experiences with TURP?

My oncologist and urologist recommended TURP for me. So far, I have reacted badly to Lupron and radiation so much that I consider the first 6 months of this year to have been a disaster. I am reluctant to agree to TURP because any side effect could be permanent. Since I seem susceptible to bad side effects I am nervous. What were your experiences? Did you have negative side effects? Were they short-lived? or permanent? Did TURP help you?
