HIFU treatment, is it an option?

Diagnosed about a month ago with prostate cancer. Out of 12 biopsies, two were Gleason score 6 (3+3) and two were 7 (3+4). Had a surgical consult today and a radiation oncology consult next week.
Been reading about HIFU treatment which appears to have less side affects than surgery or radiation. Could to find much long term efficacy (does cancer return) information, this treatment appears quite new
Has anyone had HIFU treatment?

  1. Hi . I can't personally speak to HIFU treatment, but I want to share with you one of our Forum conversations on the topic: https://prostatecancer.net/stories/hifu-procedure. In particular, I want to call your attention to all the comments, including some links to further information. Best, Richard (ProstateCancer.net Team)

    1. I had HIFU close to 5 years ago, with no side effects, I now know two others that have had it with the same SUCCESS. It is one of the newer treatments that should be posted more. so that others can consider if HIFU is for them.

      1. IF the cancer returns you can redo HIFU. Compared to doing salavage after Removal or Radiation , HIFU is a walk in the park , it can be done over and over again. After HIFU all one has to do is have your PSA checked.
