"After a struggle with my doctors office staff and the insurance company, I finally got a CT scan of my pelvis and a bone scan. Though slightly ambiguous, the general conclusion was that there was no obvious sign of spread. My urologist sent me to the surgeon and the oncology radiologist for their opinions. They both agreed that because of my enlarged prostate that I was not a good candidate for radiation, at least for the first round. Also, my reading of the technical literature tells me that proton radiation is not more effective or less damaging than regular 3d guided radiation, but lots more hyped and expensive. I'm scheduled for robotic prostatectomy surgery and lymph node biopsies next month. I wish my urologist had acted sooner as I now wonder if has spread. I guess we will find out soon enough. "
Hi @TomC, Best wishes for a successful surgery and high hopes for good biopsy results. I had surgery in April of this year and my PSA has been virtually undetectable since then. It can be a frustrating journey, but it sounds like you have a good plan in place. Will Jones ProstateCancer.net Moderator
