Prostate cancer diagnosis

My name is Larry. I'm a newbie here. I have COPD and have been a member over at COPD.net for several years now.
I just went through the screening and got my results yesterday. It's official - I have prostate cancer. I went in a couple months ago to the Urologist for urinary tract issues, of which it turned out I had several. Those are all pretty much corrected now, but during the process my bloodwork showed a PSA of 119. The Biopsy results came in yesterday. Of 12 samples, the left side ones were all 60% to 10% positive. I'm not yet familiar with all this, so bear with me. Apparently, that's not a good sign. Like I needed that.

Comorbidity with prostate cancer

This just adds another to a long list of other issues, including severe COPD, shrunken esophagus due to old spinal injuries, cataracts, and on and on. I am 73, and a retired truck driver. Long divorced, with two grown sons and 3 grandkids, and soon a great grandchild, I hope. I live in Austin, Texas. Once again it seems I have a lot of catching up to do here, so I will get busy now and see what I can learn.

 <inline-mention username="JillBrodie" user-id="6982621"/> Thanks for your reply, Jill. Interesting. This must be the slowest forum on Earth. I did NOT post this 4 days ago - I posted it on June 1 - today is July 4. That's a month and 4 days ago. I got my FBI and TSA security clearances back overnight when I still worked for a living, and even military clearances took less than a week. I was beginning to wonder if anyone was home! I guess it's all about what you're used to. I came over here from <a href='http://COPD.net' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>COPD.net</a>, where I've been for over two years now. That forum is populated and lively. Before that I spent much of my retirement time as an admin on one of the largest automotive forums on the planet. But it didn't make much sense to remain once I could no longer drive. But it was fun while it lasted. Like life. I have no life anymore. I'm homebound now, with multiple illnesses, am officially disabled, and can barely walk now. So I cannot go outside now. My neighbor takes me to the doctor when needed and that's it. All that said, it looks like there is a lot to learn here. Thanks for those links - I will look at them and go from there. I will definitely want to be involved, as, if there is anything I've learned in recent times, it's that I need to learn all I can about my illnesses and how best to progress, since I will be the one who cares the most about the outcome, and who has the most to gain or lose as well An odd sort of adjustment after a lifetime of focusing outward. Meanwhile, I am presently holding as I wait for my first appointment on July 10 with the Radiation Oncologist. It was quite overwhelming at first, and has not helped me sleep better. But I think I am oriented now, at least mentally, and have it integrated into the list of other issues I deal with daily. At least to some degree. Anyway, thanks for the holler. I will add more when I have it. Meanwhile, don't drink too many firecrackers!

We are so glad you are here and please feel free to ask any and all questions. I am happy you are being proactive and doing your homework! I know this is all very overwhelming and a big adjustment.
