Mentality

Mentally Challenged

I have found the whole journey from the day of diagnosis to now 2 years post-proctectomy more mentally challenging than the surgery.

Gay man with prostatecancer

It was never discussed about the sexual changes in one's life after surgery. Especially being a gay man. The system doesn't seem to understand us. The first thing Dr. told me is " you won't be able to bare children" nothing about not ejaculation. I am a retired nurse, if not for that I would be very poorly informed. Luckily I discovered the Gay Center in Palm Springs. This has been a big help for my mentality.
