PSA and Me

A few years ago I asked my primary care physician if my regular testing included the PSA.

Not getting a PSA test

He said that recent literature said that PSA testing had fallen out of favor. A few months later I had to get a hip replacement and had some urination problems afterward which resulted in me seeing a urologist. He saw me a couple of times and then said I needed a PSA which was a little elevated so a few months later he did another one which was more elevated and subsequently he did a biopsy on my prostate which showed some fairly aggressive cancer. With that, I had a complete prostate removal.

Stable PSA tests

PSA tests since then are showing no problem. Yes, I had a long talk with my primary care physician after the prostate surgery.
