ADT?? Just started...yay me

Hey guys I'm on like day 5 of ADT 120mg. No real side effects yet that I have noticed. But I was warned the fatigue is what's the worst. How are you guys counteracting that? I have a medical card so I'm thinking high THC sativa?

  1. Hi . The ADT fatigue is a real thing that many men struggle with (there are some who are lucky enough to not have this side effect impact them as much). I want to share with you this article from our contributor Tony on the topic, with an extensive discussion in the comments section: https://prostatecancer.net/living/adt-fatigue. I have to admit I haven't seen much about THC for fatigue, but Frederick wrote about it here for ADT related sleeplessness: https://prostatecancer.net/living/sleeplessness-adt. Hope this information is helpful and that others chime in with their experiences. Best, Richard (Team Member)

    1. - You didn't mention what you were taking but, from the dose, I am guessing it is Orgovyx. I took Orgovyx for 2 months and I did not have any fatigue. I guess it is possible during longer courses of treatment. I did get the annoying hot flashes but that really was no biggie. Based on what I have read, Orgovyx is what I would chose again versus the shots and, in my opinion, it isn't even a close call. Testosterone crashes pretty quickly and, for me, I was aware of the returning testosterone 4 weeks after stopping and it measured in the normal range after 7 weeks.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with weed while dealing with non metastatic PC and, assuming radiation treatments. Tell us a bit more about yourself, diagnosis, and treatment plan.

      1. So I'm 51 live in WA state and have 4a - it spread to nearby lymphnode. So 28 rounds of radiation are coming - waiting on VA approval. In the meantime they started Orgovyx to stop the spread. In addition to this treatment I'm also taking Ivermectin and Fenben following the Makis protocol. Which has just caused all the controversy across the boards lol. Question for ya - taking the daily pills during/after radiation - are you knocked out for the rest of the day? Anyone miss work? No real hot flashes yet but starting to get the leg spasms which are fun....😀

      2. - I thought I had responded last night but I don’t see the response.

I did not have radiation as I changed my direction on worsening low urinary flow issues that no longer responded to tamsulosin. I was several days away from the marker and spaceoar procedure and in discussion with the urologist indicated radiation would be a mistake prior to addressing flow issue with a turp. So I opted for the robotic surgery and was advised to continue Orgovyx until immediately following surgery. This is why I only took Orgovyx for two months.

I would take it at night and never noticed any fatigue. I believe that is mostly associated with being irradiated. Perhaps my short course also played a role.

Interestingly, the Orgovyx shrinks the tumors and my pathology showed Gleason 3+4 versus biopsy Gleason 4+4. The surgeon also stated my surgery to be difficult due to tissue “stickiness”. Margins and lymph nodes were negative for carcinoma and seven weeks post surgical psa was non detect and my testosterone was in the normal range. The nerve spare was only unilateral due to cancer location and the surgeon equivocated about the quality of the unilateral nerve spare due to the tissue stickiness. Nevertheless, 12 weeks post surgery, I am having some erectile success but progress is slow. I am very encouraged by this. I am doing daily VED therapy along with viagra.

Best of luck with your treatment. Take each step in stride. Do what you can. Consume information and knowledge but don’t go down the rabbit hole of worry.

    2. Also, I couldn’t be happier with the urologic outcome. No significant leakage from the beginning. I am not using any pads but there are occasional spurts that are not problematic and all of that is improving. I do pelvic pt as part of the surgical program. It is extremely helpful.
