Cancer or infection?
After a nasty uti sept 25 that ended up in a hospital stay my urinary symptoms have lingered over the last few months with raised PSA. MRI shows a 9 mm lesion stage 2 if confirmed by biopsy but this could also be an infection mimicking cancer. Question now is to biopsy or wait more months to try and clear the infection. Am guessing most people here had no symptoms at the time of their initial diagnosis?

. I can tell you that most community members don't report having symptoms prior to diagnosis. I know that infection can cause lesions on the prostate, but also that stage II has the potential to be faster growing (see: https://prostatecancer.net/diagnosis/stages). I can't tell you if it is o.k. to wait, but you may want to ask the doctor if they would have any concerns with your waiting. Best, Richard (Team Member)
