Just diagnosed

PSA 5, MRI, very Small lesion in one area of prostate looks local on MRI, Biopsy Gleason 9. I have been schedules for a PET scan. Feeling upset. Has anybody on this forum look into Ivermectin to possibly go along with your treatments? Doing a lot of research on it.

  1. Hi . I'm assuming the PET scan you mention is a PSMA PET looking for any spread outside of the prostate. This article from our editorial team provides further information: https://prostatecancer.net/treatment/psma-targeted-pet-imaging. I can't personally speak on Ivermectin, but if the cancer is contained within the prostate, even with a Gleason 9 an array of treatment options remain. There isn't much research into Ivermectin for prostate cancer at this point, but I did find this research paper finding that "the anticancer effect of ivermectin in prostate cancer, indicating that its use may be a new therapeutic approach for prostate cancer:" https://www.nature.com/articles/s41419-022-05182-0. Of course, this is very different from clinical trials determining actual human dosages, safety protocols, and effectiveness. Best, Richard (Team Member)

    1. Thanks for the response, yes its a PSMA PET scan, scheduled Tuesday, the follow up with the doctor on Wednesday. I'll keep everybody posted.

  2. Update after PSMA pet scan. I thank God that the cancer is localized, just in the prostate. 12 cores, only 4 positive, however 1 has 5% of Gleason 9. Preliminary discussion is Radiation and ADT. Meet my doctor again on Tuesday to discuss and plan and finalize treatments. The journey starts. 🙏
