Hi. I’d like to know the emotional struggles after prostate removal and ways to improve sex

Hi . These are excellent questions. Concerning sex, Rebecca, who is a pelvic floor therapist, wrote this article on how to get back to sex: https://prostatecancer.net/living/resuming-sex. Dennis wrote here about managing erectile dysfunction: https://prostatecancer.net/living/managing-erectile-dysfunction and Will here: https://prostatecancer.net/living/managing-erectile-dysfunction. The emotional aspects can even trickier because so much can go into it. The erectile aspects can certainly play a part, so finding a way to manage that can certainly help. If you have been on androgen deprivation therapy, that can also bring emotional issues as a side effect (see here for example: https://prostatecancer.net/living/androgen-deprivation-therapy). Our editorial team wrote here about finding emotional support: https://prostatecancer.net/living-coping/emotional-support. In conjunction with this last one, what a lot of men have learned and expressed is the need to be willing to seek help when necessary for both the physical and the emotional, since it is all tied together. Hope this information is helpful and others chime in with their thoughts. Best, Richard (Team Member)
