Testosterone levels post Lupron

I had my last 3 month Lupron Depot injection September 23, 2024 which took me to the end of my 18 month hormone therapy. My testosterone level the first week of January 2025 was .8. I had bloodwork done last week and my testosterone level has actually dropped to .4.

How long should it take before I start to see a rise in testosterone? I exercise regularly and eat well. I thought for sure it was rising because I’ve felt more energetic. Anyone have an experience they can share?

  1. I have had Luprun treatment back in 2010, 2020, and again in 2024/2025. My PSA was as high as 13.8 in 2010. It has come back 4 times total. The PSA is now 0.01 and testosterone is <4. I went today and will start radiation again (had it in 2003, 35 treatments) starting 4-30-25.
LOL God is good but I wish he had not made HOT FLASHES.

    1. Hi . Glad you are able to keep a sense of humor and I'm sure there are many that will agree with you on the hot flashes. Wishing you well with the new treatment and please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. Hi . Unfortunately, research has found that the length of time for recovery from ADT can be unpredictable. This article discusses some of this research: https://www.mskcc.org/clinical-updates/testosterone-recovery-uncertain-after-androgen-deprivation-therapy-prostate. Has your doctor had any thoughts? 1. Thanks for the reply. I see my radiation oncologist next week for a follow up and I also see my family doctor. Since it’s been more than a year since I saw my urologist (who prescribed my Lupron therapy), I have to get a referral back to him. Canadian health care. I’ll ask them when I see them.

    2. As Richard noted recovery from ADT is different for each patient. Speaking from personal experience vs research my 6 month shot of LUPRON took me 14 months to recover from while others in my support group had almost no reactions — you just don't know — Dennis

  3. I appreciate the replies. I read the article…a bit disheartening. I was not aware of the possibility of remaining castrate. Wait and see and carry on.
