Treatment for Biochemical Recurrence
Hi my name is John, I underwent a Prostatectomy and radiation to a local lymph node, 18 months ago, at the time my PSA was 20, and my Gleason Score was 4+5=9. My PSA is now rising with a doubling time of two months, and it is now 0.1. I've had a PSMA PET Scan, and a FDG-PET Scan, both of these scans were clear. My Medical Oncologist has started me on a course of Lupron, Cosamide 50 and Enzaluamde. What does everyone think?

). Your anxiety is certainly understandable and it is good that you are seeking out information. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your protection, cannot give medical advice. I did note that you mentioned your PSA is 0.1 and that a PSMA came back negative. Research has found that the PSMA is most effective at a PSA level of 0.2 (see here for example: https://www.urotoday.com/conference-highlights/aua-2024/aua-2024-prostate-cancer/151704-aua-2024-analyzing-the-percentage-of-positive-68ga-psma-pet-ct-scans-based-on-psa-ranges-across-distinct-indications-for-the-scan.html. The medications you listed are all forms of anti-androgens meant to bring down and control your PSA and prevent any future cancer growth. The only question that would personally jump out to me is about the doctor's confidence in no existing cancer spread. They may very well have a good answer and, if so, it could add further confidence in the current path. Hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts.
